Free Blogger templates

if you are a Blogger user, you are probably using a generic template provided by them. That means that your blog looks like thousands of other blogspot blogs on the web.

if you want to stand out from the rest, it would be a good idea to select a unique template. If you are good at XML and graphics, go ahead and design you own. If not pay someone to design it for you. You can also choose from among the various blogger templates available for free on the net.

Blogcrowds is one of the best sources for free Blogger templates. They are all free for you to download and tweak. You can also see a demo of each template before you adopt them.

Digital pictures converted to works of art

I have always wanted to have a big painted portrait of our small family rather than a photograph haging in our living room. It would definitely be a conversation piece and I saw a program on TV once where they convert your digital pictures into painted pictures.

Finally found a company who does just that. Photofiddle.com offers some great unique home decorating ideas. You can now send them your digital pictures and they will then convert it to a high quality oil painting, colour sketch, pop arts and many more options. It's so easy. After signing up: 1.Select style 2. Upload photo 3. Crop and preview.

You can have the picture either rolled, stretched or frame.

Checked with few other companies offering a similar service and I discovered that their prices are quite competitive. They also ship outside the US but you need to obtain a custom shipping quote from them.

Free web templates

As I have always said, some of the best things in the World are indeed free. While others are paying hundreds of dollars for a website template, we have Open Web Design, a community of designers sharing their web design templates as well as web design information for free.

There are so many great designs on the site, most of them are web standards compliant. Choose any template you like and download to your computer.

Great osCommerce templates

Throughout the World, a thousands of businesses have implemented osCommerce (it stands for “Open Source Commerce”), the leading open source e-commerce and online store-management software program.

It's totally free under the GNU General Public License. This software can be used on any web server that has PHP and MySQL installed. According to their official website, osCommerce is powering 12,688 online shops (as of now). The current version is the Milestone 2.2 release. However, a lot of people are looking forward to the release of Milestone 3.0.

When you download the software, one major problem is the design integration, as it doesn't come with ready made templates. However, you are in luck. There are loads of high quality osCommerce Templates on the osComemrce Cafe.

Set up by Myles O'Reilly in March 2006, this is the largest osCommerce template membership site on the internet. Myles is also the author of the popular book'The Programmers' Guide to osCommerce'.

Registering with the osComemrce Cafe will enable you to access and download as many osCommerce templates as you like on the site. Yes! That's right. Unlike other companies, you don't have to pay by template.

Customers can sign up for a period of three month, six month or for one year. Currently they have 70 templates under various categories ranging from animals & pets and books to software and sports. More templates are on the way.

The membership fees are quite reasonable too. Only $89 for three months, $158.00 for 6 months and $299 for a year's membership. Compare that to around $150 per design as charged by other companies. This site will appeal especially to web designers and developers who will have to access to several professional looking templates without spending a fortune paying for each single template.

I also noticed that they have a free osCommerce button generator on the site. Just choose your options (color, size, font and background) and then click the 'submit' button. It will result in a zip file with all the buttons, which you can then download.
