Introducing two new blogs

This blog started out as a list of all the free of all the best free software out there on the net. I later started writing about bargains, discounts and informations regarding sales offered by retailers, both online and offline.

Now I am going to take this blog back to it's roots and focus mostly on software with limited news on other free stuff.

I will now carry news about discounts and offers by online retailers on my site On Sale Online. This will include discount codes, online shopping tips, etc.

On the other hand, my new blog "not about fashion" will discuss fashion, retail news and tips on getting value for your money on branded clothes and accessories.

PayPerPost launches PPP Direct

It's no secret that I make a bit of money from my blogs. Marketing through blogs is still new but is slowly gaining acceptance. After all, it is a form of word of mouth marketing, which we all know is extremely powerful.

I am a member of PayPerPost, one of the leaders in this new advertising revolution and yesterday there was a huge development - they call it "a monster update to the site" at 21:00 US EDT. They released a new version of PayPerPost.com known as the 'Birdo Release'. One of the biggest feature in this release is PayPerPost Direct.

So what is it all about?

Well, I learnt that this feature would allow advertisers to directly approach Posties (members of PPP) to get them to write special blog posts. This means that PPP is now a direct competitor to companies like ReviewMe and Sponsored Reviews. However, unlike these companies, which charges a massive cut of the total charges, PPPDirect only charges a 10% fee, out of which 5% goes to transaction fees for PayPal and credit card processing. UPDATE: The 10% charge is commission on top of the post. For example, I charge $20 for a post on this blog means that I will get the $20. So the total charge would be $22/ for a review.

This is great news for me as it would mean more income for the same work. For example, I used to get only $20 out of the $40 charged for a review on my Auto blog (http://autolah.blogspot.com) through ReviewMe. That's a massive 50% markup.

I also appreciate the fact that online safety and security is assured through their escrow-like service. Click here to watch an overview of the service.

PR 3 in 4 months

I have had this blog for quite sometime but the Freebies blog only came into being in January this year. Before that, all I had was one single post that I updated regularly.

Was really happy last week when I found out that my blog's Google Page Rank has moved up to 3 from 0. Exchanging links with other blogs definitely helped.

Thanks to all my visitors, especially those who linked back to my blog. Check back regularly to read about more great freebies and bargains.

Conference announcement

For your information, there is going to be a conference on blogging organised by Payperpost, the leading customer generated advertising company in the World. The conference will run for 2 days (1st and 2nd June) in Orlando, Florida.

The theme of this year's Posticon 07 is "You're A Rock Star". According to the organisers, Bloggers and Internet personalities are the Rock Stars of the information age. The very nature of the internet allows Bloggers to reach out to millions of readers Worldwide and even a simple teenager blogging from a obscure place can become a "rock star" tomorrow.

The aim of the conference is to "educate bloggers on how to build traffic and readership, and use your notoriety and unique brand to create value and monetize your voice". In other words, help us become better bloggers.

It would be the perfect opportunity to interact with the blogging Rockstars - the internet personalities who have already made a name for themselves. And they have a very impressive lineup of "rockstars", including Robert Scoble who is the keynote speaker. This American blogger who blogs at Scobleizer.com, is listed as number 9 on Forbes Top 25 Web Celebrities. Along with Shel Israel, he is the co-author of the book "Naked Conversations: How Blogs are Changing the Way Businesses Talk with Customers".

Other speakers include David Ponce (OhGizmo.com), Michelle Madhok (SheFinds.com) and Sherry Heyl (What a Concept) among others.

Of course, you also get to meet up with the other Posticon Attendees - sharing ideas and experiences as well as develop networks.

Are you going to be there?

Official Launch

Today I am going to officially launch Tidak Apa - Freebies as my new blog.

Though I started this blog way back, I had only one single post, where I listed down all my favourite links. These were updated from time to time but the blog was largely neglected.

This new blog will focus on freebies on the net, especially open source software. However, this blog will also cover freeware, useful widgits and other free stuff on the net.

e-mail me at ahoklah@gmail.com if you find something useful and I will put up a link to you too.
