Free online file sharing with Driveway
I have several email accounts but most of the time, I usually use Gmail. It's a great free service but it also has some limitations. You can now send up to a maximum attachment size to 20 MB. Probably the biggest allowed among all the free email services. However, it is not that big when you consider the size of the movie clips, video games and music files we constant exchange with family and friend and also for work.
Moreover, Gmail still doesn't allow you to send executable files (.exe, .cmd) as attachments. Can be a major problem if you want to send a program to your friends.
There is a way to get around this. Driveway - Online File Sharing, a web based service for online file sharing that allows you to send files upto 500MB.
It's so simple. You just upload the file put in your email and the recipient's email and hit the send files button.
I really like it for a number of reasons:
1. It's Free,
2. Registration is not necessary, and
3. Any type of file can be uploaded.
If you don't put the recipients email address, you will get a link which you can then put up in your blog or email.
They plan to include some extra features in the future including password protection, folder uploads etc.
