PayPerPost acquires a company is in the news yet again. For those who are not aware, this company is the leading consumer generated advertising network in the World. Bloggers get paid to carry online ads but with a difference. Bloggers get to write in their own original way about an advertiser' product or services.

Coming back to the news, they just announced that they have acquired a company. I was expecting some news of this short for quite sometime. A natural step in the expansion process of the business and quite common in the tech industry.

They will only announce the name of the company next week and I am sure that a lot of people are eagerly waiting to find out more. However, I expect that the people that are the most eager to find out are the Posties (members of PayPerPost) and I am no exception. We would definitely would like to know what this means for us.

I can only guess the nature of the company, which they have acquired. Most probably it will be a social networking company. They have definitely attracted a lot of new members but it needs to prove that they have more than that to attract top paying advertisers. Come to think of it, they probably went ahead and acquired an advertising firm - which would make a lot of sense.

What they need is for more big companies to realise the benefits of consumer generated advertising and join in. Some have (notable among them is Hewlett Packard) but they are few and far in-between.

Hope this acquisition does just that.
